Tied Down South is a collaboration between Alt Rope and Tethered Men, two queer-led rope organizations based in Durham, NC. This conference was born out of a desire crosslink communities, share the unique flavor of RDU rope, and tie outdoors.

Tethered Men
Founded in 2024, Tethered Men is a social and educational group for men tying other men.
Tethered Men events are currently set up as unstructured jams with a balance of small group education, developing ties and skills, light scenes, and discussions.
Conceptualized in 2024 and brought into the public sphere in 2025, Alt Rope is space and representation for the wealth of people and rope journeys that do not get prioritized elsewhere and folks who do not have high levels of rope access.
A goal of Alt Rope is to provide opportunity for community building, practice, physical infrastructure, information and education exchange, and inclusive rope.
Specifically, this space is for rope folks who identify as (in no particular order, and not an exhaustive list): Queer and trans people, People of Color, self-tying people, masc folks who get in rope, femme folks who tie rope, fat people, and people with disabilities or limited mobility.
